In Pakistan, assembling imported motor bike parts is a very
popular business. Almost 50,000 full time workers and 150,000 part time workers
are involved in this industry. So it is a big industry which is not only has a
great impact in country’s economy, but also giving job to unemployment people.
The industry is earning foreign exchange by exporting motor bikes in Sri Lanka
and Afghanistan also.
To inspire the assembler, government is also thinking about
reducing the tariff as much as possible. If the government implements this
plan, competition will go upward among the companies. And market analysts are
saying that it may have a negative impact in national economy. Because the
industry will be forced to import more and more motor bike parts from the
abroad.
Foreign investment is another big issue in the industry.
Pakistan needs a huge amount of foreign direct investment. Many investors are
coming from abroad and thus the industry is contributing to achieve the target
of foreign direct investment in the country.
